LOVE POETRY

I think that I have found
Upon this wondrous ground
A friend for life, a love
Who is a touch above

Life's mediocrities
That blow in different seas
These special ones on earth
Who've been that way since birth

They touch lightly your heart
And never must you part,
For when you see their eyes
There can be no good-byes

So walk this way with me
Along this pathway free,
I shall not bind or tie
Our love or it would die
The way you turn me on
Is like the switch of a light
Because when I see you
I think: What a sight!
You brighten things up
Throughout the whole day
And when you're about to leave
I say to myself: Please stay

Some day you might be my lover
Some day you might be my friend
Whichever one comes first
I hope will never end
Although I don't really know you
You mean a ton to me
A ton as big as heaven
Is what I want you to see.

Now I'm not sure you're single
You might be happily in love
Whomever he might be
He is very lucky
If there's no one to fulfill
That great big happiness
That brings such great a feeling
Of sweet and joy and bless
I would be the one
To bring that all to you
I'll always do you right
If you want me to.
A rose for you

The day of love requires a companion,
But I find myself at this time all alone.
Words of sweet affection fill the morning
Like bells outside the windows of my room.

I don't know why I don't have someone with me.
I've loved and been loved through the restless years.
The mysteries of love I hold within me
Are a darkness unrelieved by moon and stars.

And yet I feel more love than I have ever
Felt within the circle of a kiss.
Love need not be a passion or a fever,
Nor does it need a hand for its caress.

Love does not require a companion.
It doesn't need an object or a home.
It flies above the ecstasy of morning
And fills the universe inside my room.

It is almost here, that special time of year.
When hearts and flowers by the hours are
brought to all who seek; When kisses swirl
and words do peak into little tuffs of cotton
(candy) my sweet. So be my love and be my
own and call me on the telephone or send a
card, that is not hard, right to my waiting door,
and I'll be yours forevermore

Love Verses and Poems by Famous Poets

Welcome to the famous poems and verses page. Poems expresses your feelings, in a very special and elegant way, and in a few words. We have tried to present a good collection of poems to you, and we are sure that you will like them. We also thank those who sent there poems to us for publishing

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need; by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,--I love thee with the breath.
Smiles, tears, of all my life!--and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Elizabeth Barrnett Browning

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright,
Meet in the aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven and gaudy day denies.

Lord Byron

If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were lov'd by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women you can
I prize thy love more than whole mines og Gold.
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee, give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold repay,
Then while we live, in love let's so persevere
That when we live no more, we may live ever.

Ann Bradstreet

All love, at first, like generous wine,
Ferments and frets until 'tis fine,
But, when 'tis settled on the lee,
And from th' impurer matter free,
Becomes the richer still the older,
And Proves the pleasanter the colder

Samuel Butler
Deare, when I from thee am gone,
Gone are all my joyes at once;
I loved thee, and thee alone,
In those love I joyed once,
And although your sights I leave,
Sight wherein my joyes do lie,
Till that death do sense bereave,
Never shall affection die.
John Downland

Through all eternity to thee
A joyful song I'll raise,
For oh! Eternity is too short
To utter all thy praise.

Joseph Addison
Never so happily in one
Did heaven and earth combine;
And yet 'tis flesh and blood alone
That makes her so divine
Thomas D'Urfey

O, my luve's like a red red rose
That's newly sprung in June
O my luve's like a melodie
That's sweetly played in tune
Robert Burns
I love thee, I love thee,
'Tis all that I can say;
It is my vision in the night,
My dreaming in the day.
Thomas Hood

What's in a name ? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called.
William Shakespeare

VALENTINE POEMS

Is it really love?
or is it just a passing feeling
am I not convinced?
a bit uncertain of the feeling

Is it the way you make me feel?
so warm with joy and laughter
or could it be the happiness
from moments spent together

The lasting bliss, the kiss I miss,
The sweetest thoughts without a touch
The heart that hurts and bears a scar
thinking how far away you are

You're on my mind most of the day
And at night I go to bed and pray
An angel soft and gentle as you
Would make my sweetest dreams come true

Thinking about you alone or in class
Writing your name on my bathroom window glass
Wishing you were here
To love hold and care
Wishing I had you with me
To cherish and to stare

Into your soft and beautiful eyes
As we both travel to the skies
And mingle with the stars above
But is it really love?

I miss you terribly this day of love,

Miss you with a wound that stabs and aches.
I see the love around me, and it takes
So much strength simply just to move.
Soon, soon, my love, this waiting will be done.

You and I will have what we desire.
On days like this we'll sit beside the fire,
Undoing all the pain of days long gone.

Valentine's Day is a day of love
Where love is as bright as the sun
We share kisses, and even a hug
With people we call our loved ones
Unrequited love is oh! so harsh
When the one you love doesn't love you
You feel you're left standing in the dark
Wishing this reality were untrue
Well that's why Valentine's Day is so great
It encourages you to show you care
It makes you just wanna say
I love you and will always be there
I once loved someone in this way
And I was encouraged on Valentine's
I went up to him, just to say
I would like you to be mine
-Candice

December 22-23, 2004

I woke up in a white room
with white lace curtains.
Snow covered landscape;
I'm in Memphis for certain

Yesterday, it took over three hours
just to travel the last twenty miles.
But nothing is like my wife's family
always being greeted with smiles

I was hoping for a White Christmas.
You'd be surprise how simple I am.
Be careful what you wish for
God may be listening to your plan.

Most of the nation is covered
with that dangerous and beautiful thing
I am grateful for arriving safely
for my wife's happiness is everything.

She wanted to see her family,
her father, uncles and aunts.
I've kept her in Southwest Texas too long;
this trip I most willingly grant.

So, here we are now
in a snowy southern wonderland.
Waiting for Christmas dinner to come;
a present only my wife can understand

THE TAME BIRD WAS IN A CAGE
by: Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)

THE tame bird was in a cage, the free bird was in the forest.
They met when the time came, it was a decree of fate.
The free bird cries, "O my love, let us fly to the wood."
The cage bird whispers, "Come hither, let us both live in the cage."
Says the free bird, "Among bars, where is there room to spread one's wings?"
"Alas," cries the caged bird, "I should not know where to sit perched in the sky."

The free bird cries, "My darling, sing the songs of the woodlands."
The cage bird sings, "Sit by my side, I'll teach you the speech of the learned."
The forest bird cries, "No, ah no! songs can never be taught."
The cage bird says, "Alas for me, I know not the songs of the woodlands."

There love is intense with longing, but they never can fly wing to wing.
Through the bars of the cage they look, and vain is their wish to know each other.
They flutter their wings in yearning, and sing, "Come closer, my love!"
The free bird cries, "It cannot be, I fear the closed doors of the cage."
The cage bird whispers, "Alas, my wings are powerless and dead."

UNENDING LOVE

by: Rabindranath Tagore

I seem to have loved you in numberless forms, numberless times...
In life after life, in age after age, forever.
My spellbound heart has made and remade the necklace of songs,
That you take as a gift, wear round your neck in your many forms,
In life after life, in age after age, forever.

Whenever I hear old chronicles of love, it's age old pain,
It's ancient tale of being apart or together.
As I stare on and on into the past, in the end you emerge,
Clad in the light of a pole-star, piercing the darkness of time.
You become an image of what is remembered forever.

You and I have floated here on the stream that brings from the fount.
At the heart of time, love of one for another.
We have played along side millions of lovers,
Shared in the same shy sweetness of meeting,
the distressful tears of farewell,
Old love but in shapes that renew and renew forever.

FIREFLIES

by: Rabindranath Tagore

I touch God in my song as the hill touches the far-away sea with its waterfall.

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.
Let my love, like sunlight, surround you and yet give you illumined freedom.

Love remains a secret even when spoken, for only a lover truly knows that he is loved.
Emancipation from the bondage of the soil is no freedom for the tree.
In love I pay my endless debt to thee
for what thou art.

THE GARDENER

by: Rabindranath Tagore

If you would have it so,
I will end my singing.

If it sets your heart aflutter,
I will take away my eyes from your face.

If it suddenly startles you in your walk,
I will step aside and take another path.

If it confuses you in your flower-weaving,
I will shun your lonely garden.

If it makes the water wanton and wild,
I will not row my boat by your bank.

THE CHILD ANGEL

by: Rabindranath Tagore

Let your life come amongst them like a flame of light, my child,
unflickering and pure, and delight them into silence.

They are cruel in their greed and their envy,
their words are like hidden knives thirsting for blood.

Go and stand amidst their scowling hearts, my child,
and let your gentle eyes fall upon them like the
forgiving peace of the evening over the strife of the day.

Let them see your face, my child, and thus know the
meaning of all things, let them love you and love each other.

Come and take your seat in the bosom of the limitless, my child.
At sunrise open and raise your heart like a blossoming flower,
and at sunset bend your head and in silence
complete the worship of the day.

VALENTINE WALLPAPERS

Things to keep in mind when giving a Valentine’s Day’s gift

Valentine’s Day is approaching very quickly, prompting many people to think about appropriate gifts for the occasion. Many people believe it’s the most romantic day of the year whereas some others term it as a rather overly commercialized nightmare. Whatever your viewpoint is, you invariably need to prepare for this day as you cannot remain untouched by the romance in the air on the 14th of February.
With a bit of planning and innovative thinking, you can ensure a fun-filled and romantic Valentine’s Day. Instead of pushing a rushed delivery of flowers, or last-minute reservation request at a restaurant, think of your gift and locate your favorite romantic spot well in advance.

Tastes of different persons obviously are different, and there’s no such a thing as ideal Valentine’s gift idea. Buying a set of soft silk sheets in conventional colors like dark maroon or silver would make a good gift. It can be bought at any branded linen or upholstery showroom. Dress your bed and decorate a vase on a bedside table with some fresh flowers. When your lover walks in, he or she will get a real surprise!

Love charts its own undefined course. It varies in intensity and shades. Give him or her Valentine’s Day gifts to match your level of involvement and the intensity of your love. Your gift should not pass the wrong message.

To elaborate a bit, it should not denote that you are fully committed and sure of him as your guy or gal, when you are actually not! In fact, a deciding factor in what you gift should be how committed both of you are to each other.

If your relationship is nascent or you aren’t’ really sure of your committed, be content with gifting the easy candy or flowers. If you’re serious about the relationship, be more thoughtful and choose a gift with greater care so that he or she appreciates your gesture and accepts the apparent or subtle message regarding your desire for long term relationships.

Valentine’s Day gifts carry different connotations and associations for each person, and there is no such a thing as perfect Valentine’s gift idea. It all depends on the state, shade and depth of your relationship!

The thoughtful gift is the one that counts. Take the effort to get clues for what she or he really aspires for. This well might be a genre of book or music that they had mentioned as their choice. If they love collecting, get something worthy for their collectibles’ shelf.

Some tried and tested gift ideas for Valentine’s Day

What is going to work this year? Well here are a few simple and inexpensive ideas that will warm the hearts of both sides and they work every time. Even though these unique gift ideas are sometimes common it is what guys and girls love to get as a gift for Valentines Day.

Here are some tried and tested gift ideas for Valentine’s Day:-

A well arranged bouquet of flowers

A well arranged bouquet of flowers with a nice note is the safest bet. It always works. Find out about your lover’s floral preferences. Lilies and Tulips are among the more popular choices. And, of course, the rose! Keep in mind the connotations and meanings attached with colors before you pick the flowers.

• White: Innocence, reverence, purity
• Yellow: Joy
• Red and White: Unity
• Red: Love, respect
• Pink: Grace, gentility
• Orange: Desire
• Two red roses joined together: Engagement or marriage (use it carefully)!
• Rose buds: Beauty, youth

Silk flowers & plants make a good gift idea since they last forever just like your love for him or her.

Chocolates

This one invariably works since it spells out sensuality. Nothing indeed melts a heart like Valentines Day chocolate. Keep in mind the taste of your sweetheart and whether he or she prefers dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate truffles or nutty chocolate. They all send a message of love.

Jewelry

his is an idea that will invariably work for any women! Rings, earrings, watches, bracelets and necklaces all work! It may be a bit costly but nothing turns on the charm quite as much as a rich piece of jewelry. Opt for a simple pendant on a shining silver chain for a even more elegant look.

Perfumes

If she has a particular scent, find out what that perfume is! Talk to one of her friends on her choice of perfume. If you cannot figure out which perfume she likes, or she usually buys, simply stick to the more conventional, popular brands. Even men love a good fragrance. Pay attention to the perfume bottle. It should be stylish.

Bonsai

This ranks high on the novelty scale. It is synonymous with recent albeit deep relationships. You can also gift small plants etc. Avoid gifting cacti for obvious reasons!

Candle stand

It’s not as inane as it appears. Especially females are fond of candles. You can select some innovative designs on gift stores like those crafted of wrought iron or pewter. It would be a good idea adding scented candles.

A coffee maker

This ranks high on scale of practicality especially if he or she loves a hot cuppa. It’s a perfect gift if your best buddy is living as a paying guest or sharing an apartment with others. This will make sure that your best mate thinks of you with hot coffee every morning.

Hopefully these great Valentine’s Day gift ideas we have provided will help you bring a smile on your lover’s face this Valentine’s Day

Some more curious facts about Valentine’s Day

The different legends about Valentine’s Day only emphasize his appeal as a heroic and romantic figure. Let’s know about some more curious facts about Valentine’s Day

Today, at least three different saints named Valentinus or Valentine are recognized by the Catholic Church. Incidentally, all of them were martyred.

Some think that the day is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s burial or death that probably occurred around 270 A.D. Others claim that the Christian church may have decided to celebrate Valentine’s feast day in February to ‘christianize’ the pagan Lupercalia festive celebrations.

In the UK, the day began to be celebrated on mass-scale around the 17th century. By the middle of the 18th century, it became common for lovers and friends in all social strata to exchange tokens of affection or handwritten notes.
Later, printed cards replaced handwritten notes owing to upgrading printing technology. Ready-made cards turned an easy means for people to convey their emotions in a time when direct expression of one’s sentiments was not encouraged.
Americans probably started exchange of hand-made valentines in the beginning of the 18th century.

Valentine greetings used to be popular even in the Middle Ages (written Valentine’s didn’t start to appear till after 1400).
The oldest known Valentine card is displayed at the British Museum.
Esther A. Howland. Howland created the first commercial Valentine’s Day greeting card in the 1840s in the US.
